On-Going Lecturer Pool

The History of Art and Visual Culture Department invites applications for an on-going pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach full- or part-time. We seek applications from outstanding candidates with experience to teach historic or contemporary periods in the visual cultures of any of the following: Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, or Oceania. The members of the department are committed to the investigation of art and visual culture from a wide range of theoretical perspectives. We seek colleagues with secure knowledge of visual materials and demonstrated interest in examining such materials and related issues within contexts of culture and history. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching and service. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. preferred or advanced Ph.D. candidate (less than one year from completion at time of appointment) in art history/visual culture or relevant field of study such as media studies or communication; promise of scholarly distinction and teaching excellence; university-level teaching experience preferred. RANK: Lecturer or appropriate visiting professorial title. A lecturer's duties are primarily teaching and may include advising students. A visiting professorial title would be appropriate for someone currently employed in a professorial title at another institution. A visiting professor would be expected to teach, pursue research, and perform some departmental or university service.
